A jury at Reading Crown Court has found 22-year-old Hassan Al-Kubanji from London and 21-year-old Riaz Miah, who has no fixed address, guilty of the murder of Rafaqit Kayani in Slough.
Riaz Miah had previously admitted to carrying a knife in public and possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply. Additionally, 41-year-old Miguel Parian John from Slough was found guilty of assisting the offenders and carrying a knife.
The sentencing for all three men will be announced at a later date.
The fatal stabbing occurred at approximately 1.45pm on 30 August last year on Keel Drive, Slough. Rafaqit Kayani, aged 24, was found seriously injured and was taken to hospital, where he later died from a stab wound to the chest.
Detective Chief Inspector Dejan Avramovic of the Major Crime Unit said, “Today, the jury has concluded Hassan Al-Kubanji and Riaz Miah tragically murdered Rafaqit Kayani. This conviction sends a clear message that we will not tolerate knife crime in Slough or the Thames Valley.”
Superintendent Lee Barnham, Slough’s local policing commander, offered condolences to the victim’s family and reaffirmed a zero-tolerance approach to knife crime.
He stated, “This conviction shows our determination to bring violent offenders to justice. We are dedicating more officers to hunt down anyone carrying weapons. We urge the public to help us by reporting knife crime anonymously through Crimestoppers or by calling 101.”
