Jordan Farran and Glen O’Donnell have been sentenced to four years in prison each for their involvement in a violent robbery at a Morrisons petrol station in Bredbury in September 2021.
The Greater Manchester Police’s Stockport Division successfully solved the case after a thorough investigation.
On 16 September 2021, the two men entered the petrol station armed with a golf club. They threatened the staff and forced them to hand over cash and approximately 200 boxes of cigarettes before fleeing under the cover of darkness.
Police traced the getaway vehicle back to Jordan Farran. When Farran was arrested two days after the incident, officers seized his mobile phones. The data retrieved from these devices disproved his alibi.
Phone records showed Farran was at Glen O’Donnell’s house that night and later travelled to Stockport, contradicting his claim that he was at home. Additional CCTV footage captured two hooded men arriving at the petrol station by car, matching the descriptions of Farran and O’Donnell.
The robbery was recorded on camera and supported by witness statements.
Detective Constable Shakespeare from the GMP Serious Crime Division praised the witnesses’ bravery, stating, “We salute the bravery of witnesses who came forward. Our team’s dedication to analysing data, CCTV, and gathering evidence led to these convictions. We remain committed to bringing violent offenders to justice.”
Farran and O’Donnell appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court on 10 August 2023. Both pleaded guilty and were each sentenced to four years in prison.
