New developments have emerged in the long-running investigation into the death of Stuart Lubbock, who was found dead in a TV presenter’s pool in Roydon, Essex, in March 2001 after a party. On 17 March, Essex Police arrested a 50-year-old man in Cheshire following “significant new information” related to the case.
The man was granted bail until 12 April but was later released under investigation, Essex Police confirmed on Sunday. Despite the release, the probe into Stuart’s death remains active, with detectives continuing to seek answers.
Detective Superintendent Lucy Morris expressed the ongoing commitment to solving the case, stating, “We have never given up on finding out what exactly happened to Stuart and we will not stop in our pursuit of justice for him and for his family and friends.”
Neighbours described Stuart Lubbock as a “pleasant, sociable” butcher from Harlow. A post-mortem examination revealed that Stuart suffered “horrific” injuries prior to his death. Detective Superintendent Morris acknowledged the complexity of the investigation, noting that the case remains “extremely lengthy and complex,” but emphasized the determination to uncover the truth.
