Three men have been convicted for stealing hundreds of items from homes across London, including the ashes of two children. Marcin Lipiec, 37, Daniel Majewski, 26, and Piotr Pawlark, 32, all from Whitton, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary at Kingston Crown Court. Their sentencing is set for 11 May.
One of their most distressing crimes occurred on 11 December 2017 in Richmond, where they stole a maroon box containing the ashes of twins who died at birth, along with jewellery. The family was left devastated by the loss.
The break in was uncovered after a tip-off about a suspicious gold VW Passat driving slowly in the SW14 area. Police officers tracked the vehicle back to the suspects’ home on Wills Crescent, where they heard banging noises from inside the property.
Officers found a large safe that had been badly damaged from burglary attempts and recovered numerous stolen items, including passports, bank cards, and laptops.
During a search, police seized more than 400 stolen belongings and burglary tools such as crowbars and gloves. The recovered items linked the trio to eight burglaries across London, covering areas including Richmond, Isleworth, Twickenham, and Hounslow between November and December 2017.
Detective Constable Jamie Oprey of Richmond and Kingston CID said, “Lipiec, Majewski and Pawlark are prolific burglars who caused misery across London. Thanks to brilliant detective work and a vigilant public, we linked them to eight raids and returned hundreds of stolen items, including the children’s ashes.”
He added, “This case shows how vital it is to report suspicious behaviour – it made all the difference.”
The three men now face jail for their heartless crime spree that left families shattered. The sentencing hearing will bring them to justice.
