Four-year-old Kol Page was found lifeless in a Bromley home on April 25, 2022. The young boy endured brutal injuries while under the care of his mother, Zoe Coutts, 35, from Crayford, and her ex-partner, Scott O’Connor, 36, from Thamesmead.

Kol initially survived the attack but was left with catastrophic brain damage and severe disabilities. Tragically, he passed away on June 29, 2024, at just four years and three months old.

At Southwark Crown Court, Zoe Coutts was convicted of allowing the death of a child, while Scott O’Connor was found guilty of manslaughter. Detectives revealed that Kol suffered repeated assaults in the weeks leading up to his collapse. His injuries included bruises across his face, black eyes, and a severe abdominal wound caused by punches or stomps.

Court evidence included photographs showing Kol’s worsening bruises over time. Disturbingly, messages exchanged between Coutts and O’Connor revealed them making callous jokes about hurting him.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn said, “Kol was an innocent little boy who suffered horrific abuse in the place where he should have been safest — at home with his mother. Kol was boisterous, cheeky and endlessly loving to everyone who knew him. He should have had a bright future but was let down by those who should have protected him most. He will always be remembered.”

Coutts and O’Connor are scheduled to be sentenced on May 8, as this heartbreaking case moves closer to closure.
