Three Men Charged with Attempted Murder After Brutal Cosham Brawl

Three young men have been hit with attempted murder charges following a savage street fight between two groups of Afghan men in Cosham on Thursday afternoon, 12 March.

Attempted Murder and Weapon Charges Unveiled

  • Arif Ahmadzai, 18, from Albert Road, Southsea — charged with attempted murder.
  • Abdullah Mirzad, 18, from New Road, Portsmouth — also charged with attempted murder.
  • Abdul Shinwari, 19, from Alma Road, Southampton — charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in public.

All three are currently held in custody and will face Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Monday, 16 March.

More Arrests Made as Investigation Continues

  • An 18-year-old man from Southampton was arrested over attempted murder and knife possession but has been bailed until 13 June while inquiries continue.
  • Two Portsmouth men, aged 21 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of witness intimidation and released on bail until 12 June.

Victim Left Fighting for Life After Horrific Leg Stabbing

Police were called after South Central Ambulance Service reported a man with a puncture wound to his leg at Hawthorn Crescent, Cosham, at 2:28pm.

The 31-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition with a serious, potentially life-threatening injury. He is now stable and receiving ongoing treatment.
