Teen Girl Charged in Edmonton Stabbing Murder
Detectives have made a breakthrough in the murder investigation of 16-year-old Taye Faik, who was fatally stabbed in Edmonton on October 1, 2023. A 16-year-old girl has now been charged with his murder, becoming the third suspect in the case.
Third Suspect Arrested and Charged
The girl, who cannot be named due to her age, was initially arrested on November 3, 2023, and released on bail during ongoing investigations. She has now been formally charged with Taye’s murder and is due to appear in custody at the Old Bailey on Friday, January 5, 2024.
Timeline of the Tragic Case
- Police were called shortly after 11:27pm on October 1 following reports of a stabbing at Kendal Gardens.
- Taye Faik tragically died at the scene despite emergency teams’ efforts.
- A post-mortem on October 4 revealed sharp force trauma to the chest as the cause of death.
- Taye’s family have been notified of the new charges and continue to receive support from liaison officers.
Other Suspects and Ongoing Investigation
Before this latest arrest, two men were already charged with Taye’s murder:
- Josiah James Semper, 18, of Cromie Close, N13 – charged on November 17, 2023.
- Bernard Carroll, 20, of Church Street, N9 – arrested on November 6, 2023, and charged.
Both remain in custody, with their next court date on Friday, February 16, 2024.
Additionally, three more individuals—a 20-year-old man and two women aged 22—have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offence. They remain on bail as inquiries continue.
