Machete-Wielding Teen Sparks Dramatic Romford Police Chase
An 18-year-old armed with a machete sparked chaos in Romford on Thursday, September 18, after police spotted him roaming Oldchurch Gardens. When officers moved in, the suspect tried to make a run for it, but a sharp police chase ended in his swift arrest.
Suspect Ditches Machete in Garden During Pursuit
Officers on patrol near Romford Town Centre spotted the teen around 1.55pm and gave chase when he attempted to flee. During the sprint, the man threw the machete into a nearby garden. Quick-thinking cops immediately recovered the weapon and hauled the suspect in for possession of an offensive weapon.
18-Year-Old Faces Court Over Dangerous Weapon
The teen appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court the very next day. He is set for a further hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court next month, facing additional charges linked to the incident.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers attempted to stop a man in Oldchurch Gardens, Romford, and he made off. He was pursued and detained a short distance away. During the pursuit, officers saw the man discard a machete into a garden, which was recovered.”
