Abdulmawal Ibrahim Adam, 27, from Stanier Street in Swindon, has been charged with attempting to kidnap a 17-year-old girl in a terrifying incident that shocked the local community.
The attempted kidnapping took place on March 6 when the teenage girl was walking home from work along Fleming Way. Adam reportedly chased and grabbed the victim, but she managed to escape his grip through quick thinking and courage.
Wiltshire Police responded swiftly to the attack and launched an immediate investigation. Adam was arrested and charged with attempted kidnap. He was remanded in custody late on Wednesday, March 19.
Adam is scheduled to appear before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 20.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said, “We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and have worked swiftly to identify and charge a suspect. The victim is being supported, and we are continuing our investigation.”
