A Sussex Police officer is due to appear in court today after a fatal collision in Peacehaven that resulted in the death of 27-year-old Arthur Hölscher-Ermert on April 30, 2022. The officer faces a charge of causing death by dangerous driving following the crash.

The identity of the officer has not been disclosed for legal reasons. The court hearing is scheduled for January 9, 2024, at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

In a related development, investigations into a second officer who was suspected of obstructing justice have concluded with no charges being filed. This clears another stage in the ongoing legal proceedings.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has urged the public to respect the legal process and avoid online speculation. They have requested that people refrain from sharing or commenting on information that could prejudice the case as it moves through the courts.

The tragic incident has raised public concern, but officials emphasize that the courts will determine the facts. Further updates will be provided as the case develops.
