Abdul Sami, 23, of Mannheim Road, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his stepmother, Rizwana Kousar, 41. The conviction was secured by a jury at Bradford Crown Court on 17 March, and Sami was sentenced on 20 March to a minimum term of 14 years and 91 days before he can apply for parole.
The family of Rizwana Kousar have spoken out following the court’s decision, expressing the deep and lasting impact her death has had on them all. They described Rizwana as a cherished daughter, sister, auntie, and friend, whose heart was always full of love and selflessness.
“Her kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone she touched, bringing warmth and joy into countless lives,” the family said in a touching tribute.
Reflecting on their grief, the family revealed the overwhelming nature of their loss. “The void she has left is immeasurable, and our hearts are shattered by her absence,” they said. “Nothing can erase the profound pain and devastation that has engulfed our family. We hope only to seek justice for Rizwana.”
Amid the community shock, the family has asked for privacy during this difficult time. “We would ask that our privacy is respected,” they pleaded.
