Son Jailed for Brutal Attack on Mother Days After Prison Release
Sean Wilson, 23, from Erith, has been locked up for eight years after savagely attacking his own mum just eight days after leaving prison. Woolwich Crown Court deemed him “dangerous” and sentenced him on Thursday, 3 December. He must serve at least 32 months behind bars, with four years on licence.
Attack Details: A Horrifying Ordeal
Wilson pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and false imprisonment on 20 October. He had been released on 19 March after serving time for stabbing his mother.
After being allowed to stay with his mum—who is in her 40s—Wilson turned violent on 27 March. He blamed her for his previous imprisonment and launched a terrifying attack.
- He shoved her to the floor and strangled her in a chokehold cutting off her air.
- Wilson slapped and punched her face and head repeatedly for around an hour.
- He locked her in the kitchen for two hours, refusing to let her leave, then dragged her back to the lounge and continued choking her.
- She only escaped when Wilson fell asleep, letting her call the police.
Thankfully, she avoided serious injuries. Police arrested Wilson, who later claimed he couldn’t remember the attack due to heavy drinking.
Police Speak Out on Domestic Violence Beyond Partners
“This case shows that violence is not only restricted to partners or spouses. Domestic violence can also affect mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers,” said Detective Constable Carly Walker of the South East Basic Command Unit’s CID.
“Wilson carried out an awful attack on his own mother and we were determined that he should be brought to account. We would not accept pleas to anything less than all the charges.”
