Sex Offender Caught Trying to Cover Tracks – Jailed for 21 Months
A registered sex offender’s clever online cover-up blew up in his face. Peter Ash, 52, from Truro’s Kenwyn Hill Caravan Park, was caught and locked up after police found sickening images of a dog being sexually abused on his device.
Breaching Orders and Extreme Porn Charges Land Him Behind Bars
Ash appeared at Truro Crown Court on 13 February and pleaded guilty to three breaches of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order, possession of extreme pornography, and breaking sex offender notification rules. The judge slapped him with a 21-month prison sentence and ordered a seven-year stint on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
Ash’s troubles began in 2022 when he was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse images and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order as part of his sentence.
Police Uncover Ash’s Attempts to Hide His Crimes
The police crackdown kicked off in September 2025 after Devon & Cornwall officers caught wind of online chats involving child abuse. They tracked Ash down at his Truro home. Investigations revealed he tried to cover his tracks by:
- Failing to tell police about a new mobile device
- Using encrypted apps to dodge detection
- Employing a VPN to mask his IP address
These sneaky moves added fresh breaches to his charges.
Police Slam Ash’s Actions, Urge Public to Speak Up
“I welcome the sentence given to Peter Ash at Truro Crown Court,” said Police Constable Dean Martin from the Paedophile Online Investigation Team. “Ash’s desperate attempts to mask his internet history show total disregard for the court order designed to stop him offending.”
