A dangerous sex offender has been sent back to prison after breaking strict legal conditions. Sebastian Pavel Baltatu was deported from the UK in 2020 but shockingly sneaked back into the country, violating all sex offender requirements.
Greater Manchester Police’s Sex Offender Management Unit (SOMU) tracked down Baltatu after routine checks revealed he was unlawfully residing in the UK. The 24-year-old former rapist was found living in Gorton, Manchester, when he attempted to claim Universal Credit.
Baltatu, born 2 September 2001, was originally jailed for three years in 2019 for raping a child under 13. Following his illegal return, officers arrested him in a coordinated raid in March 2026 and held him until his court hearing.
At Manchester Crown Court on 17 April 2026, Baltatu pleaded guilty to five breaches of his sex offender orders as well as breaking his deportation order. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison and now faces deportation once again.
