Three brothers have been found guilty of a horrific sex crime spree that terrorised Rotherham almost 20 years ago. Their twisted crimes targeted five victims, including four children.
The ringleader, Amar Ilyas, 41, earned the chilling nickname “Killer” for his brutal tactics — which included gun threats, promises of gang rape, and biting one victim. He was convicted in absentia last September after fleeing the UK. His escape kept him under the radar while the brothers’ trial went ahead.
Amar’s brothers, Kamran Ilyas, 38, and Kamar Ilyas, 39, were also found guilty of multiple sexual offences against one of the girls their eldest brother abused. The nightmare unfolded between 2004 and 2008, with victims detailing grooming and horrific violence.
The brothers are the latest arrests as part of Operation Stovewood — the National Crime Agency’s extensive investigation into historic sex abuse in Rotherham, launched in 2018. The probe began after a woman bravely reported grooming and rape by Kamar, along with abuses by his brothers.
