Drug dealing and persistent anti-social behaviour from a flat in Rochester have been addressed with firm police action. A woman has been evicted from the property, and a closure order has been imposed on the flat.

Since January, Kent Police received 20 complaints concerning a flat on King Street. These reports included county lines drug dealing and loud, disruptive parties that disturbed local residents.

Kent Police’s Medway Community Safety Unit collaborated with Medway Council and the housing association to seek a closure order. Medway Magistrates’ Court approved the order on 21 April, which took immediate effect.

The flat is now off-limits for three months. Anyone violating the closure order faces arrest, fines, or imprisonment.

Inspector Mat Burbeck of Kent Police said, “Anti-social behaviour is an unacceptable nuisance. We will always use all our powers to protect communities.” He added, “The woman showed complete disregard for her neighbours and refused to change her ways.”

“This tough but fair action shows our excellent partnership with Medway Council and the housing association. Nuisance behaviour won’t go unchallenged.”

Medway Council also supports the police crackdown. Councillor Adrian Gulvin stated, “I’m pleased that action has been taken to tackle this persistent anti-social behaviour.”

He continued, “The occupant ignored several warnings, leaving us no choice but to act.”

“This decision sends a clear message: anti-social behaviour won’t be tolerated in Medway. We’ll continue working closely with partners to stop it.”
