A rapist who attacked a teenage girl while she was asleep at a Halloween party in Ramsgate has been jailed for more than five years. Angelos Ntolakai, 23, of Manston Road, Ramsgate, was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday, 17 September 2026, after being unanimously convicted of rape following a four-day trial. The attack happened on 29 October 2022 after the victim became unwell during a gathering and fell asleep in a friend’s bed. Ntolakai forced himself on the teenager while she was sleeping and held her down as he raped her.

DNA evidence linked rapist to attack

The victim quickly told a friend what had happened and Kent Police was contacted, prompting officers to attend and launch an investigation. Detectives obtained forensic samples from the men who had attended the party. Analysis identified a DNA profile matching Ntolakai and he was arrested on 15 March 2023. He answered “no comment” to questions during his first police interview and was subsequently charged with rape. Investigators later obtained further evidence, including photographs and videos taken during the party which helped identify Ntolakai and establish his presence at the gathering. When interviewed again, he provided a prepared statement in which he blamed alcohol for his poor recollection. He claimed that if he had had sexual intercourse with a girl at the party, it would have been consensual and said he understood consent. Ntolakai, who is a Greek national, denied rape but was found guilty by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court.

Jailed for five years and seven months

He was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison and will remain on the sex offenders register for life. Investigating officer Detective Constable Chris Harvey said: “This custodial sentence was based heavily on the strength of the DNA and forensic information gathered by the investigation team, as well as the crucial input of witnesses who collaborated with us and provided key evidence. “The victim personal statement read out at court made clear the impact that this attack has had on her life, and I hope this sentence provides the victim and her family with some sense of justice and closure.”
