Jessica Cloke, daughter of a high-ranking RAF commander, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison following a violent incident at a pub in Cyprus. The attack left her former friend, 20-year-old Madison Bagley, requiring 50 stitches and reconstructive facial surgery.
The incident took place at The Hamlet pub, located within the Sovereign Base Area in Cyprus. Witnesses reported that Cloke was shouting in Bagley’s face before dousing her with wine and then smashing a wine glass across her face. The judge described the attack as a chilling release of “drunken anger.”
Cloke and Bagley were once close friends but had fallen out several months prior to the assault. On the night of the attack, Cloke was overheard bitterly ranting about Bagley before approaching her aggressively as Bagley attempted to walk away.
CCTV footage captured the brutal assault, showing Cloke delivering relentless blows that caused a severe wound extending from Bagley’s eye to her cheekbone, dangerously close to her eye. Bagley’s family stated that she has struggled with trauma and a lengthy recovery, describing her as a shell of her former self.
Initially, Cloke denied causing grievous bodily harm but pleaded guilty after the CCTV evidence was presented in court. In a recorded statement, she admitted, “I just saw red and threw my glass at her.” She is currently serving her sentence at HMP Dhekelia in Cyprus.
The Ministry of Defence condemned Cloke’s actions as “unacceptable,” emphasizing that there is no place for crime within the armed forces community. Meanwhile, Bagley continues to receive medical treatment. Her brother described her as “really brave” but acknowledged that the attack has left lasting scars on her confidence and wellbeing.
