Police Hunt New Witnesses and Footage After Fatal Gosport Cycle Rage

Police are ramping up their investigation into a shocking Gosport cycle rage incident that left Roy Galvin dead. The 74-year-old from Alverstoke suffered serious head injuries after an altercation with a cyclist while out with his wife, who uses a wheelchair.

Man Faces Manslaughter Charge After Brutal Attack

The horrific clash happened on Bury Road, Gosport, at around 5.45pm on Sunday, 25 September. Mr Galvin was allegedly pushed to the ground by a 28-year-old cyclist from Gosport. Despite being rushed to hospital, Mr Galvin sadly died last Wednesday.

The cyclist, initially charged with grievous bodily harm, now faces manslaughter. He remains in custody and is set to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on 31 October.

Police Urge Witnesses and Drivers to Come Forward

Since the incident, officers have spoken to hundreds of motorists and passers-by. But they believe key witnesses are still out there. Police want to track down a bystander who may have snapped photos on their phone around the time of the assault.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Adam Price said:

“We have not yet spoken to this person, who could be an important witness, so I would urge them to contact us. Please call us on 101.”

Police will also be stopping people near the scene on Bury Road throughout Sunday afternoon to gather more information. They’re particularly keen to see any dashcam footage that might shed light on the incident.
