A Christmas nutcracker statue was stolen from Broadway in Sheerness, prompting a police investigation and arrests. The theft occurred on Friday, December 5, 2025, with Kent Police being called at 1:33 pm following reports of the missing festive decoration.
Kent Police have arrested two men in connection with the nutcracker theft. John Bain, 39, of Invicta Road, Sheerness, now faces three theft charges. Two of these charges relate to separate shoplifting incidents at Neats Court Retail Park on November 25 and December 1.
John Bain is currently out on bail and is scheduled to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. A second suspect, a 59-year-old man from Sheerness, was released without charge.
The stolen nutcracker remains missing, and detectives are appealing to the public for information. Anyone with tips is urged to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/208343/25. Authorities hope that community assistance will help solve the case.
