Dangerous Rapist Martin Crossley Jailed for Nearly 20 Years
Martin Crossley, 41, a violent sex offender with no fixed address, has been slammed with a huge 19-and-a-half-year prison sentence plus an extended five-year licence. Preston Crown Court handed down the tough sentence after Crossley pled guilty to five counts of rape involving two victims, including a teenage girl, across Lancashire.
Shocking Crimes Exposed in Grim 2022 Investigation
The investigation kicked off in 2022 when appalling details of Crossley’s vile assaults came to light. He repeatedly raped one woman. Disturbing evidence included Crossley telling a witness, “I saw women as a piece of meat,” and confessing to a victim, “I’ve had sex with her when she’s been asleep and after she’s said no.” In 2023, new evidence revealed attacks on a teenage girl. Crossley pleaded guilty to all five rape charges earlier this year.
Victim Breaks Silence: “He Destroyed My Life”
One victim gave a heart-wrenching impact statement. She said Crossley had “destroyed her life.” She went on: “I could never describe enough how much I hate Martin for what he has done. He does not deserve to use up the oxygen of another human being. I want to be able to move forward with my life finally.”
She urged others to beware: “Martin Crossley is a dangerous sexual predator, and I do not want anyone else to be at risk from suffering at the hands of him.”
Police Praise Victims’ Bravery, Promise Justice
Detective Constable Alyson Richards from the Major Investigation Team spoke about the case’s impact: “No words I can say will ever truly reflect the impact Crossley’s perverted and deviant behaviour has had and continues to have on his victims.”
She added: “I hope the sentence Crossley has received will allow them to begin to rebuild their lives knowing their attacker is behind bars for a long, long time.”
DC Richards also thanked the victims for their courage: “I want to place on record my thanks to both victims for the bravery they have shown throughout this process and for the trust they placed in us to bring Crossley to justice.”
