Special Constable Sergeant Ben Smith, attached to the Metropolitan Police’s South East Command Unit, has been charged with sexual assault relating to incidents from 2017.
Smith faces two counts of sexual assault involving two women. The alleged offences are said to have occurred while he was off duty.
The case is scheduled to be heard at Bromley Magistrates Court on Monday, 13 March. In the meantime, Smith has been suspended from all police duties pending the outcome of the case.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “A serving Met Police Special Constable (SC) has been charged with sexual assault. SC Sergeant Ben Smith was charged on Thursday, 16 February with two counts of sexual assault. The assault is alleged to have taken place against two females in 2017 when the officer was off duty. SC Smith, who is attached to the South East Command Unit, appears at Bromley Magistrates Court on Monday, 13 March. He is currently suspended from duty.”
