Police Sergeant Lee Juniper, from Central West Command, was found guilty of gross misconduct after a two-day misconduct hearing that began on April 17. The hearing concluded that Juniper breached professional standards on multiple counts, including authority, respect, honesty, integrity, and discreditable conduct.
Superintendent Alan Duncan publicly condemned Juniper’s behaviour, stating, “Former PS Juniper abused his position as the officer’s line manager and failed to follow appropriate policies regarding relationships between colleagues. His behaviour was completely inappropriate and the messages he sent to the female officer thoroughly blurred personal and professional lines. All officers are fully aware of the clear guidance about this at work.”
Following the verdict, Juniper will be added to the Barred List maintained by the College of Policing. Being on this list means he is prohibited from employment with police forces, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
