PC Mohammed Sardar, 31, from the East Area Basic Command Unit, has been charged under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 after an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command.
The charges relate to alleged offences that took place between 2018 and 2021. PC Sardar is accused of unauthorised access to police computer systems, although specific details about what was accessed have not been disclosed at this time.
PC Sardar is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 22 September, where the case will be heard and further details are expected to emerge.
The investigation was conducted by the Met Police’s Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command with oversight from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The involvement of the IOPC highlights the seriousness of the allegations and the close monitoring of the case.
