A serving Metropolitan Police officer, PC Daryl Marley, has been fined following his conviction for assaulting a fellow officer during an off-duty night out in Westminster.
The verdict was delivered on Monday, 18 September, at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
The incident occurred in October 2022 when PC Marley, who is attached to the Central West Command Unit, became involved in a dispute at a bar and assaulted a male officer. Marley was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the altercation.
He received a £500 fine, a £200 victim surcharge, and £300 in court costs. However, a separate charge related to using threatening or abusive language towards a female officer during the same incident was dismissed by the judge.
Chief Superintendent Louise Puddefoot, head of the Central West Command Unit, commented on the case, stating, “Police officers, whether on or off duty, must uphold the highest standards expected by the public. PC Marley’s actions fell short, and holding him accountable is essential.”
PC Marley remains suspended as misconduct proceedings are set to begin following the conclusion of the criminal case.
