A Metropolitan Police officer has been found guilty of gross misconduct after taking lewd photos of himself exposing his genitalia across multiple police stations. These inappropriate acts occurred over a seven-year period, from 2014 to 2021, while the officer was on active duty.
The explicit images came to light during an unrelated investigation. The officer had already been suspended and subsequently resigned in November 2023 before facing a misconduct hearing on January 5, 2024. His identity remains confidential under legal order to protect ongoing criminal cases.
Had the officer not resigned, he would have been dismissed from the force. The Metropolitan Police has stated that the 123 officers who fail to meet professional standards do not belong in the service.
The Met Police is committed to maintaining public trust and has taken a firm stance against officers who breach ethical standards. The officer involved will be permanently barred from policing roles by the College of Policing. Individuals on this Barred List are prohibited from working for police forces, Police and Crime Commissioners, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services.
