A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged following an assault involving a 14-year-old boy in Essex. PC Paul Bewsey, who is part of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was off duty when the incident occurred.
The altercation took place on April 21 in Brentwood, Essex. Essex Police reported that the officer and the teenager became involved in a fight on Hanging Hill Lane. Details about what caused the dispute and whether the boy sustained any injuries have not been disclosed.
PC Paul Bewsey was formally charged on October 21. He is scheduled to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on November 24. The Metropolitan Police have placed him on restricted duty while the case is ongoing.
