Jason Maddocks, 36, jailed after wild police chase tearing through North Wiltshire villages
High-Speed Chase Ends in Handcuffs
Jason Maddocks, a 36-year-old from Swansea, has been slammed behind bars after a daring police pursuit on 1 October 2024. Maddocks pleaded guilty to multiple offences: failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, drug driving, criminal damage, and possession of class A drugs.
Villages Terrorised as Chase Hits 100mph
The drama kicked off when police spotted Maddocks’ car in Corsham, after they were tipped off that a vulnerable missing person from South Wales was inside. Despite warnings, Maddocks refused to stop. The chase raced through Chippenham, Yatton Keynell, Castle Combe, Acton Turville, and onto the M4 motorway. Speeds topped 100mph, with Maddocks smashing into several vehicles along the way, causing chaos and damage.
Jail Sentence and Long Driving Ban
Officers finally stopped Maddocks at Hullavington airfield. He was arrested and found with cocaine in the vehicle. Thankfully, the missing person inside was safe and recovered.
On 14 November at Swansea Crown Court, Maddocks was sentenced to 14 months in prison and slapped with a driving ban for three years and seven months.
PC Nick Slade lashed out at Maddocks’ reckless stunt:
“He showed zero regard for safety, driving dangerously at speeds over 100mph, even towards oncoming traffic. This behaviour is utterly unacceptable. He rightly faces a jail sentence and a lengthy driving ban to keep others safe.”
