Man Charged Over Historic Child Sex Abuse at Andover Athletics Club

Philip Banning, 68, has appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 7 March), facing serious historic child sex abuse charges. Hampshire police’s Operation Marmion team arrested him after an extensive investigation.

24 Counts of Indecent Assault

Banning, from Meadowlands Close, Penhow, Wales, stands accused of 24 counts of indecent assault against girls under 16 during the 1970s and 1980s in Andover. The offences allegedly happened while he was a coach at Andover Athletics Club.

Bail Set, Next Appearance in April

The 68-year-old has been bailed to appear at Winchester Crown Court on April 10, where the case will continue.
