Man Found Guilty of Murdering 9-Year-Old Girl Outside Boston Shop
Shocking Stabbing Silences Boston
A 26-year-old man has been convicted of fatally stabbing nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte as she played with a hula hoop outside her mother’s shop in Boston. The brutal attack happened just before 7pm on July 28, 2022. Lilia tragically died later that day.
Deividas Skebas, once of Thorold Street, faced a delayed trial due to mental health concerns but was ultimately found guilty of murder.
CCTV Footage and Evidence Seal Skebas’ Doom
The court heard chilling details during the trial that started January 26, 2024. Prosecutors presented CCTV footage showing Skebas buying a knife days before the killing and lurking around the area.
After stabbing Lilia, Skebas fled, shaved off his beard, and attempted to arrange a getaway abroad, according to his phone records. Despite claims of mental health struggles post-attack, the court ruled he understood his actions and tried to cover his tracks.
Justice at Last for Little Lilia
Skebas was convicted of murder on February 5 and remains in custody awaiting sentencing on February 25.
“The decision will not change our lives. Nothing will bring our child back,” said Lilia’s mother, Lina Savickiene.
“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank those who were not afraid to stand by us and support our family during the hardest time.”
Detective Chief Inspector Jennifer Lovatt added: “Lilia should have been celebrating her 13th birthday this week. She did not deserve to lose her life. This verdict marks justice for her, her family, and the community.”
The whole Boston community remains heartbroken, continuing to mourn the young girl’s tragic loss.
