Maureen Gitau, 24, has been missing since 5 December last year after leaving her home in SE8, Lewisham. Her family reported her missing on 10 December, prompting a widespread search.

On Sunday, 2 January, detectives charged 54-year-old Mark Moodie of Nightingale Place, SE18, with the murder of Maureen Gitau. He is scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 3 January.

Maureen’s family is devastated by the news and is receiving specialist support during this difficult time. Police have appealed to the public for any information regarding Maureen’s whereabouts, particularly from anyone who saw her in the Deptford area on 5 December.
