Steffan Gordon, 33, from Dehavilland Close, Northolt, was arrested on Saturday, 17 December in connection with the murder and kidnap investigation in Loughton. The following day, he was formally charged with murder, kidnap, and possession of Class A drugs.
Gordon appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 December, where he was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing scheduled at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 21 December.
Koray Alpergin, 43, was found dead near Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in Loughton by Essex Police on the morning of 15 October. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Following initial inquiries, the Metropolitan Police took over the investigation. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command continues to support Koray’s family as the investigation progresses.
Before Gordon’s arrest, four other individuals were charged in relation to the case. They are Erdogan Ulcay, 55, of Oakeshott Avenue, Camden; Ali Kavak, 25, of De Quincey Road, Tottenham; a 17-year-old boy whose name is withheld due to age; and Junior Kettle, 31, of Kingsdown Road, Islington. All four are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 6 January 2023.
Additionally, two men aged 29 and 34 were arrested on suspicion of murder but have since been released on bail pending further enquiries. A 55-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge.
