Man Charged After Woman Sexually Assaulted in Camber Sands Dunes
Police have charged a man following a shocking sexual assault at Camber Sands, East Sussex. The incident happened at around 5.30pm on Sunday, 25 August, when a woman in her 50s was attacked while sunbathing in the dunes.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
After a swift investigation, officers arrested 33-year-old Mohammed Maatoug from Boxley Road, Maidstone, on Saturday, 6 September. He was held on suspicion of sexual assault by penetration. Maatoug was charged and appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 September, where he was remanded in custody.
Upcoming Court Date
Maatoug is set to appear at Crown Court on 7 October, though the exact location is yet to be confirmed. Police continue to investigate the case.
