Gillian Morand, 36, died in Bexley back in March 2020. Her death was first ruled a suicide. Now, fresh claims of domestic abuse have sparked a full-scale police investigation.
Scotland Yard Charges Man Over Fatal Abuse
The Met Police have launched a probe after allegations surfaced that Gillian suffered prolonged domestic abuse. Seyhan Assaf, 45, from Sidcup, faces charges of manslaughter and coercive or controlling behaviour.
The force says the abuse spanned a “significant period” and played a major role in Gillian’s tragic death.
Assaf Due in Court This Weekend
Assaf is scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, facing serious allegations that highlight the brutal reality of domestic abuse.
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Whitten said: “This is a complex investigation with very few charges of this nature authorised across the country.”

Officers are appealing to anyone who had contact with Gillian in the ten years before her death to come forward. Every detail could be crucial in securing justice.
