Kent Police responded swiftly to reports of a violent disturbance at a barber shop located on Week Street near St Faith’s Street in Maidstone at 9.45am on Wednesday 30 June 2021.

During the incident, a man sustained a serious cut to his hand and received treatment from paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service at the scene.

Following the assault, officers arrested three individuals connected to the violent fracas. Details of the charges emerged in the days after the incident.

Kieran Betturidge, aged 21 from London, was charged with affray and possession of a bladed article on Friday 2 July. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded ahead of a future hearing.

A 17-year-old teenager from London faced multiple charges on Saturday 3 July, including affray, possession of a bladed weapon, and two counts of assaulting emergency workers. This individual was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Monday 5 July.

The second 17-year-old suspect was released on bail as investigations continue.

The case remains ongoing with further court hearings planned. Police continue to investigate the violent episode that disrupted the normally quiet street in Kent.
