Kent Police stopped a suspicious vehicle on the M20 motorway near Ashford at approximately 6:30pm on November 15, 2024. During the vehicle stop, officers discovered wraps believed to contain cocaine and heroin, along with two mobile phones.

Further searches of the vehicle and driver uncovered additional cash, blocks of suspected heroin and crack cocaine, as well as another mobile phone. The driver was promptly arrested at the scene.

The suspect, Akindele Balogun, aged 42, from Homefield Rise, Orpington, Greater London, has been charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

Balogun is currently remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on November 18, 2024.

A Kent Police spokesperson stated: “This is an example of our ongoing efforts to target those involved in the distribution of illegal substances and to disrupt drug-related crime in our communities. We remain committed to keeping Kent safe from the harm caused by drugs.”

Investigations into this case are ongoing.
