Good news for London Underground passengers! Free Wi-Fi is now available at some of the busiest Tube stations, thanks to several mobile phone providers rolling out enhanced connectivity services.
The network is rapidly upgrading to offer 4G and 5G coverage deep underground. Passengers can now surf the web on Elizabeth line platforms, escalators, and ticket halls at key stations such as Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street.
With more sections being fitted with 4G and 5G coverage, staying connected while travelling deep underground is becoming the new norm for commuters and visitors alike.
Looking ahead, there are massive coverage plans in place. By the end of 2024, a significant portion of the entire London Underground and Overground network is expected to have near-complete mobile coverage, allowing seamless connectivity throughout the Tube system.
Free Wi-Fi is currently available from providers including EE, 1, Three, and O2 (Wifi Extra). Meanwhile, 4G and 5G services are offered by Three, EE, Vodafone, Virgin Media, O2, and Sky Mobile.
Getting online is simple: your phone should automatically connect to the free Wi-Fi as soon as you enter a participating station or board a train, provided your device has wireless internet enabled.
