Cavan Medlock, a 27-year-old man from north-west London, appeared in court on Friday 23 October facing a new terrorism charge. He has been charged with preparing terrorist acts under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Medlock was initially charged on 8 September with several serious offences including possession of a bladed article in a public place, threatening a person with a bladed article in public, a racially aggravated public order offence, actual bodily harm (ABH), and making threats to kill.

He first appeared via video link and was remanded in custody, with a hearing scheduled at Harrow Crown Court on 7 October. Following this, Medlock was further remanded and appeared at the Old Bailey on 23 October, where the additional terrorism preparation charge was added.

Medlock remains in custody ahead of a plea and case management hearing at the Old Bailey on a date yet to be scheduled. A provisional trial date has been set for 17 May 2021.
