A Moroccan asylum seeker already serving a life sentence for murder has been charged with attempted murder after violent attacks on prison officers at two high-security prisons, police have revealed.
Ahmed Ali Alid, 47, now faces charges including attempted murder, assault causing actual bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon. The assaults occurred first at HMP Full Sutton on 8 August 2023 and again two months later at HMP Wakefield.
Alid was convicted in October 2024 for the brutal murder of 70-year-old Terence Carney in a savage street attack. He is currently serving a life sentence for that crime.
The convicted killer is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow to face the new charges.
