Ex-Teacher Nick Baldock Jailed Over Child Sex Crimes and Data Leaks
Nick Baldock, 46, a former teacher at Lancing College, has been slapped with a suspended jail sentence for a string of child sex offences and illegally sharing pupils’ personal information.
Sexual Assault and Disturbing Online Behaviour
In July 2022, Baldock indecently touched a teenage boy attending the prestigious school. After the assault, he contacted the victim pretending to apologise but made suggestive comments about younger boys.
When the police swooped, multiple digital devices seized revealed a trove of indecent images of children, including serious Category A material. Thankfully, none were of current or former Lancing pupils.
Shocking Telegram Messages Exposed
Further probes uncovered Baldock’s Telegram chats, showing his disturbing sexual interest in boys aged 13 to 17. Disturbingly, he shared innocent photos of boys—some lifted from the school’s database—with others in his twisted network.
Baldock faced a slew of charges including sexual assault, disseminating obscene material, and unlawfully sharing personal data between August 2021 and December 2022.
Sentence and Warning for Future Protection
At Crawley Magistrates’ Court last month, Baldock admitted to all charges. On October 24, Hove Crown Court handed him 12 months behind bars—suspended for two years. He must also register as a sex offender and comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for eight years.
HH Judge Rennie declared, “Baldock shattered the trust of his students for his own sexual gratification.”
Detective Sergeant Paul Hitchcock said, “Nick Baldock’s pattern of behaviour shows a clear sexual interest in young boys that he acted upon physically and online. His offending was a betrayal of his responsibility to protect the children under his care.”
The Sexual Harm Prevention Order severely restricts Baldock’s contact with young people, offering some reassurance to his victims and their families.
