Daniel Boakye, 21, who was sentenced to six years in prison for knifepoint robberies, has escaped from police custody while receiving medical treatment. The incident occurred on February 15 at University Hospital Lewisham.
Police pursued Boakye as he fled but were unable to apprehend him before he disappeared into the streets. A recently released image shows Boakye boarding a London bus wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket. He is described as a slim-built black man.
Still at large, Boakye, also known by his stage name DSAVV, has released a rap track titled “The Race.” The lyrics boast about evading police and include a challenge to officers to “catch me if you can.” The song pays tribute to US rapper Tay-K, who gained notoriety for recording music while on the run from law enforcement.
Boakye was convicted in July 2023 for threatening victims with a knife and stealing phones along with banking details. Despite previous arrests, he has managed to escape custody multiple times. The Metropolitan Police are conducting a thorough search and reviewing the circumstances surrounding his escape.
A spokesperson for the Met Police stated, “Officers searching for a 21-year-old man who absconded from Lewisham Hospital are releasing a new image, as they continue to appeal to the public for information.
