Katie Price, 43, of Worthing Road, Dial Post, Horsham, avoided jail today at Crawley Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified, without insurance, and under the influence of alcohol.
The offences relate to a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 6.20am on September 28 in West Grinstead.
Price was sentenced to a 16-week suspended sentence. She is required to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and attend 20 rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) sessions within the next year.
The court also imposed a two-year driving ban and fined her £85 in costs.
Sussex Police have expressed their dissatisfaction with the sentence. Supt James Collis, Head of Roads Policing for Sussex and Surrey Police, stated, “Today’s sentencing, as the judge explained, could have and should have been much worse. Price is extremely lucky not to be spending Christmas behind bars.”
He added, “Given her history and the risks she posed, it’s clear she ignored the danger to the public and her own family. We are now exploring whether we can appeal this sentence.”
