Trouble erupted in Wolverhampton on Saturday when reports of gunfire sent police rushing to Willenhall Road at around 4.10pm. A 23-year-old man arrived at hospital shortly after with a leg injury but is said to be in stable condition.

In the early hours of Sunday, officers stopped a car in Birmingham linked to the incident. Two men, aged 35 and 25, were arrested and remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

Wolverhampton Police Inspector James Bird said, “We understand the concerns about gun crime and run regular operations to disrupt and deter it. Officers will be on patrol in the area to reassure the community, and we are reviewing CCTV footage to uncover the full story.”
