Adam Ward, a 30-year-old man from Gateshead, was jailed for four years and four months after police discovered a disturbing collection of indecent images of children during a raid on his home in October 2020.
The National Crime Agency alerted Northumbria Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team about Ward’s activities, prompting a swift operation. Officers seized multiple electronic devices from his residence as part of the investigation.
Following a thorough probe, Ward was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a child, voyeurism, making and possessing indecent images, and possession of extreme images. He pled guilty to all offences at Newcastle Crown Court.
The court sentenced Ward to four years and four months in prison, with an extended licence period of five years and eight months. The judge emphasized a zero-tolerance stance on such offences.
Northumbria Police issued a strong warning to potential offenders. A spokesperson said, “Ward’s actions are despicable, but we have been able to strike and secure the evidence needed to secure a conviction. Thanks to the families involved for their resilience and patience throughout this investigation. We want potential offenders to know we’re watching – the next knock could be from us.”
They added, “If you have any info or think you’re a victim, come forward. You will be heard and supported, and we’ll fight to bring offenders to justice.”
