Four boys in Epsom became ill after eating suspicious sweets, with one 12-year-old boy discharged late on Saturday, 1st May. The other three boys, who experienced vomiting and other symptoms, remain in hospital but are expected to be released today following overnight observation.
Police are actively investigating where the boys obtained the sweets. Officers plan to speak with the children and their families to collect more details about the incident.
Detective Sergeant Lisa Betchley said, “These children were incredibly lucky not to be more seriously affected by whatever it was that they ate. Thanks go to two medical students nearby who helped quickly, as well as the South East Coast Ambulance Service and hospital staff for their swift response and treatment.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the sweets to come forward. They also advise parents to be cautious about storing such products away from young children who may not understand what is inside.
To reassure the community, officers will be visiting the Epsom area where the boys were found. Locals with concerns are encouraged to speak with a police officer or PCSO.
