Four masked men were caught red-handed robbing the EE store on Kilburn High Road at 5:25 PM on Tuesday. The suspects, armed with surgical masks and hoods, stormed the shop and threatened staff to crack open safes loaded with high-end mobiles.
While two crooks held shop staff and customers hostage, the other two forced a worker into the storeroom. They began stuffing phones into bags before Flying Squad officers swooped in and arrested all four on the spot.
The suspects, aged 21, 24, 27, and 28, have been charged with robbery and are currently in police custody.
This bust is part of a wider Metropolitan Police effort teamed with EE and other industry giants, tackling a spike in mobile phone store robberies across London. So far, eight men have been arrested and charged over 10 big heists and one attempted robbery thanks to proactive policing like this Kilburn sting.
Detective Inspector Nikki Owen of the Flying Squad West highlighted the deep impact these crimes have beyond just financial loss: “Robbery involves theft by force. While businesses count the cost, the trauma left on victims and witnesses runs far deeper and lasts longer.”
“Under ‘A New Met for London,’ we’re cracking down hard on crimes that matter most — especially robbery — while building trust and community ties.”
Owen also warned buyers to beware of stolen phones being sold on social media, at small shops, or shipped abroad. “If your phone’s flagged stolen via its IMEI number, you risk losing it,” she said.
