A man in his 30s was shot near The Lanes Shopping Centre in Sutton Coldfield at around 7:30am on Friday, October 24. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police acted quickly and arrested five suspects who now face serious charges including attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.
Two of the suspects are from the Bexley area:
- Terrence Regis, 43, of Erith Road, Belvedere – charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
- Carly Smith, 36, no fixed address but believed to be from Bexley – charged with conspiracy to murder.
The other suspects are:
- Kirstie Gavin, 32, of James Street, Gillingham – charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.
- Adrian Hylton, 43, of Godstone Road, St Margarets, Richmond – charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
- Dwaine Patterson, 46, of Wharfside Street, Birmingham – charged with conspiracy to murder.
All five appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court and remain in custody ahead of their hearing at Birmingham Crown Court next month.
Detective Inspector Stacey Follows from the West Midlands Major Crime Unit said, “These charges mark a major breakthrough in this complex investigation. Officers have worked round the clock to make arrests and secure these charges. We’re also thankful for support from forces outside West Midlands.”
She added, “Our investigation continues. Anyone with information who hasn’t yet come forward is urged to contact us.”
