Brutal Attack Happens at Victim’s Own Home

Daniel Black, 37, a former soldier from Hull, has been locked up for seven years after a chilling assault in Nuneaton. In March 2023, Black spent an evening with a woman before taking her back to her home — where he savagely raped and sexually assaulted her. The victim showed immense courage by reporting the crime to Warwickshire Police, who swiftly arrested Black.

Denies All Charges but Jury Unanimous

Black, medically discharged from the Armed Forces during the investigation, denied the rape and assault charges. Despite his denials, the evidence was overwhelming. He was charged with rape and assault by penetration of a female over 13. The case went to trial in September, and the jury found him guilty on both counts without hesitation.

Seven Years Behind Bars and Lifetime Orders

Sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 12 December, Black received seven years for rape and an additional four years for assault, to run concurrently. The judge also handed down an indefinite restraining order, banning him from contacting his victim ever again. Black will remain on the sex offender register indefinitely, ensuring he stays under watch long after prison.
