Ex-Met Firearms Inspector Faces Shocking Sex Crime Charges
John Doyle, 53, once a top cop in the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command, now finds himself in the dock. He’s been slapped with a barrage of serious sexual offence charges that have rocked the police force to its core.
Staggering List of Charges Laid Bare
On 4 February, Doyle was served with a postal requisition detailing a grim line-up of allegations, including:
- Five counts of rape
- One count of assault by penetration
- Two counts of coercive and controlling behaviour
- Two counts of actual bodily harm
- Four counts of grievous bodily harm with intent
- Two counts of misconduct in public office
- One count of possession of extreme pornography
The offences reportedly involve just one victim and stretch over a 12-year period from 2012 to 2024.
Fall From Grace: Arrest, Suspension, and Sacking
Doyle was arrested on 24 June 2024 and immediately suspended. Despite the gravity of the charges, he kept his job for months until a private hearing on 10 December led to his dismissal.
The record-breaking case is due to kick off at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 11 February, promising to send shockwaves throughout the Met and beyond.
