Harry Blake, 21, from west London, has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison after violating conditions imposed following his previous terrorism conviction.
The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command discovered that Blake was in possession of a mobile phone and memory card which he failed to declare to officers, constituting a clear breach of the law.
On August 7, 2022, officers stopped Blake at Gatwick Airport under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000. Upon searching his belongings, they seized his phone and memory card. Forensic analysis later revealed that these devices contained extreme pornography and indecent images of children.
Blake was arrested on September 15, 2022, and charged with multiple offences including three counts of failing to notify police under the Counter Terrorism Act, three counts of breaching a Serious Crime Prevention Order, three counts of possessing extreme pornography, and one count of possessing indecent child images. He pleaded guilty to all charges.
Detective Chief Superintendent Gareth Rees stated, “This breach is incredibly serious given Blake’s previous conviction for sharing extremist content online. The discovery of child abuse images makes it even more grave.”
Previously, in September 2020, Blake admitted to 14 terrorism offences related to extreme right-wing activity along with two charges involving child abuse images. He was given a suspended sentence and placed under a ten-year terrorist offender notification order. Additionally, Blake was required to undergo deradicalisation and was prohibited from using his computer without prior notification to the police.
His failure to comply with these strict conditions has now resulted in imprisonment. Blake will remain subject to the notification order for ten years and will face another Serious Crime Prevention Order upon release.
